Dan Kato led a long hike at Mount Diablo state park. They started at the Diablo Valley Overlook near the Juniper Campground. Then they took the “Grand Loop” for a total distance of about 6.8 miles and a vertical climb of 1820 ft. The loop consisted of the Deer Flat Trail, the Bald Ridge Trail on the North Peak and Juniper trails.  This was a challenging hike, not so much from distance but by the vertical climb.Â
