Nancy Rumple led a hike in Calero County Park that was 7-8 miles with a 1000 ft. elevation gain on the lower trails in the park and the trail consisted of hiking in and out of shade.

Al Girolami led a hike to Coyote Lake- Harvey Bear Ranch County Park. The hike was about 4 miles on a mostly wide trail with an elevation gain of about 550 feet.They parted at the no fee Mendoza Ranch entrance and hiked up the Coyote Ridge Trail and then up the Mummy Mountain Trail to the top with a great view of Coyote Lake. Then they completed the loop downhill to the parking area.
Amy Meier led a hike in the Purisima open space area on Saturday, August 19th, starting at the trail head near Highway 1, south of half Moon Bay. The trail was through redwood trees with sunny areas with grass and chaparral. The nearby ocean keep the group cool. The elevation difference was about 1800 ft
Bonnie Preston led an outing on a Salt Marsh Safari boat tour through the Alviso Slough to explore the natural history of the South San Francisco Bay on Wednesday, August 16th. This free program is sponsored by the Santa Clara Park and Recreation District and is an educational boat tour where we learned about the natural history of the South San Francisco Bay and how the landscape has changed over time.
Ramon and Marianna Reza led a hike on the Cogswell Marsh Trail on Wednesday, August 9th. The flat gravel trail begin and ended at the Hayward Shoreline Interpretive Center and was 3.6 miles long round trip. It skirted along a freshwater marsh a haven for migrating birds reaching the SF Bay. The SF and Oakland skylines could be seen across the water.
