Alum Rock hike 7-17-2024

On 17-July-2024 Rich Banbridge led a hike to Alum Rock along the valley trail which was about five miles round trip. There was an elevation gain of 300 feet.  It was almost all in shade which was good thing for July. They stopped for an  optional lunch at Lee’s Sandwich shop on Berryessa.

Evergreen rambler hike 7-10-2024

Sandy & John Petrin led a Rambler hike beginning near Evergreen Square with 10 Villagers.  The group proceeded up Michelangelo Drive, toward the Gurdwara Temple and back around Murillo Lake to Evergreen Square. It was just over 3 miles and all were able to stay mostly on the shaded side of the street. We passed Carolyn Clark Elementary School and Evergreen Valley High School along the way. The highlight of the hike was feeding the turtles at Lake Murillo. Mary Robinson brought along some actual “turtle” food and all watched as about 40 turtles lined up for a treat while ducks dropped in to grab any leftovers. They all seemed very “practiced” at this kind of treatment (the turtles, not the Villagers)! From there we headed back toward the Farmers Market at Evergreen Square.
