Pearson-Arastradero Preserve Hike

Richard Bainbridge and Wendy Ledamun led a medium hike in Pearson-Arastradero Preserve, in the Palo Alto foothills. This new destination for the hiking club proved to be a winner with a beautiful blue sky and views of SF and many of the surrounding peaks. The trails were mainly old farm roads with connector trails.  The hike was about 4 miles with an elevation gain of about 400 ft. The hike was in the open space which was perfect for the day’s temperature.

Los Alamaden Creek Hike

Sy  Gelman  led a rambler hike along Los Alamaden Creek Trail.  The starting point was from Alamaden Lake and the trail followed Los Alamaden  Creek on mostly level ground.  The walk was about 3 – 4 miles round trip.

Silver Creek Hike

Susan Brown led a 6 mile hike from the New Seasons parking lot down Silver Creek Valley Rd to Hellyer Ave and then back. The group stopped at the New Leaf Market for a snack afterwards.

Fremont Older open Space

Wate and Johanna  Bakker led a hike in the Fremont Older open Space area near Saratoga on Saturday, February 4th.

Mountainview Lake Shore Outing




Wate Bakker led a rambler hike to the Mountain View Lake Shore park on Wednesday, February 1st to go bird watching. Mary Fullerton came along to be our expert birder. Afterwards lunch was at the Lake Shore Cafe.

Pleasanton Ridge Park Hike

Richard Bainbridge and Wendy Ledamun led long and rambler  hikes  in the Pleasanton Ridge park near Sunol on Saturday, January 28th. The hikes were mainly along the ridge line with beautiful views of the east bay hills.To reach the ridge there was a 600-800ft climb The trails were mainly old farm roads with some well  groomed connector trails.

Penitentia Creek Hike


On Wednesday, January 25th Brad Hinckley led a group of ramblers on a 4-5 mile hike along Penitentia Creek. The creek was swollen and flooded out under a bridge forcing the group to go back.

New Years Day Celebration 2017

The club once again celebrated New Year’s Day at the top of our tallest hill, at 2,330 ft elevation.  Wate Bakker led the long hikers to the top starting from the Foothill Center leaving at 9.45 AM. so the celebration started at  about 11:30 AM at the top of the hill. The ramblers celebrated at the picnic table at the juncture of Indian(Ohlone) and Sky. As usual there were many snacks and libations that were shared with friends and fellow hikers.

Rambler Hike
