Coastside Trail – Half Moon Bay Hike

Ramon and Marianna Reza led an out and back hike on Wednesday, July 24th on the Coastside Trail, a winding, flat, paved trail that goes in and out from the edge of the Pacific Coast. Round trip hike distance was approximately 5 miles.

Golf Course Hike

Gary and Terry Holmquist led a hike on the golf course cart paths. Walkers can do about 2 miles or four miles with about a 200 foot elevation gain. .

Summer BBQ party

Dave Wilson, The Singing Cowboy, and his country band, Hoot n Holler, performed at the Hiking Club’s Summer BBQ on Thursday, July 18 at The Gazebo. Barbeque was served starting at 5:30 pm, followed by Dave and friends!

Bay Bridge Hike

Rich Bainbridge and Wendy Ledamun led a hike along the Bay Bridge Bicycle/Pedestrian Path that runs along the eastern span of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge to the newly opened Vista Point on Yerba Buena Island. The Vista Point offers sweeping views of the East Span of the Bay Bridge, San Francisco Bay and Oakland. From there they took the free shuttle to the Avenue of the Palms on Treasure Island for lunch.

Coit Tower Hike

Wate and Johanna Bakker led an urban hike in San Francisco on Saturday, July 6th. They started at the waterfront near the Exploratorium and climbed the stairs to Coit Tower and then proceeded from there to Chinatown for lunch. After lunch they returned to the Embarcadero center and the Ferry building. It was a 4-5 mile hike but included a considerable amount of stair climbing.

Coyote Creek Trail Hike

Katy Peretti led a hike along Coyote Creek. The 5 mile hike was along a flat paved mostly shaded trail.

Calero County Park Hike

Nancy Rumple led a group on Saturday, June 29th on the hilly trails in the Main part of Calero County Park starting at the Main Entrance for 8-9 miles. They hiked up the Pena trail and then continued up and down on the Vallecito, Figueroa, Serpentine, & Cottle trails before eating lunch at the Cottle Rest Site.They passed the Bat Inn and crossed a small creek on the rocks.

 

Coyote Hills Regional Park Hike

Gary and Terry Holmquist led a hike at Coyote Hills Regional Park in Newark on Saturday, June 22nd. The group started at Park Headquarters and took the Bayview Trail around and then up Red Hill. They finished with a short tour of the marsh area. Total distance for the hike was approximately four and one half miles.
