Cañada del Oro Open Space Preserve Hike

 

Amy Meier led a hike with a 7-8 mile loop with 1550 ft elevation gain on the Mayfair Ranch, Longwall Canyon, Bald Peaks and Catamount Trails on varied terrain both wooded and with expansive views of Calero Reservoir and surrounding valleys.

Calero County Park Hike

Akiko Giordono led long hikers on a 9-mile hike with 500ft elevation gain in Calero County Park, entering from Rancho San Vicente entrance.

Bentley Ridge Hike

Ramon and Marianna Reza led a loop hike from the Villages to and across nearby Bentley Ridge:  Cribari Center/San Felipe/Larkspur/Bentley Ridge Drive/Yerba Buena/Hounds Estates/Cribari Center on Wednesday,January 15th.  They stopped at the Starbucks/Le Boulanger  on the corner of San Felipe and Yerba Buena for coffee and snacks. Hike length was about 5 miles with modest and gradual elevation at the beginning of the hike.

Sierra Vista Open Space Preserve Hike

Wate Bakker led a long hike in the Sierra Vista open space preserve, overlooking the Alum Rock canyon. The hike was about 6.25 miles. The trail undulated but the total altitude difference was a moderate,500-600 ft.

Montgomery Hill Hike

Sy Gelman led a hike to Montgomery Hill off Yerba Buena and behind Evergreen College. They stopped at the Starbucks/Le Boulanger on the corner of San Felipe and Yerba Buena for coffee and snacks. The walk was approximately 3-4 miles.

Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park Hike

 

 
Dan Kato led a long hike at Henry Cowell Redwoods state park.   They took the Eagle Creek and the Pine trails to the observation deck where they had lunch and enjoyed the scenic views.  The group then took the pipeline road.  The vertical climb was about 1000 feet and the total hiking distance 9 to 10 miles.

New Years Top of the Hill Celebration Party 2020

The hiking club celebrated the New Year on top of our tallest hill at 2,300 ft.  The main group started from Foothill Center, leaving at 9:30 AM. It took about 1 1/2 hours to make it to the top, and the celebration started at about 11:30 AM. Approximately 25 people attended including some non hiking club members.
