Pleasanton Ridge Hike

Wate Bakker led a long hike along the Crest of Pleasanton Ridge. The hike was about 7 miles long. Total elevation gain was about 1000ft, mostly during the first mile of the hike. The hike will be mostly sunny, but there is shade on the way up. There are extensive views across the bay and also mature olive groves

Los Gatos Creek Trail Hike

Sandy & John Petrin led a hike from Oak Meadow Park, 233 Blossom Hill Rd east along Los Gatos Creek past the dam to a small shopping plaza on Winchester Blvd on Wednesday, December 8th.  They ate an early lunch at Garrett Station. The round trip hike was about 4 miles with some shade along the way.

Santa Teresa County Park Hike

 


Dan Kato led a long hike at Santa Teresa County Park on Saturday, December 4th. They started at the Bernal Gulnac Joice Ranch. From there they hiked to Coyote Peak, an up and down climb of about 1000 ft., where they had lunch. There were rocks and benches at the peak to sit on and see a nice view. They then took a different set of trails to return for a total hike length of 7 miles.

Alum Park Hike

Susan Brown led a long hike to Alum Rock Park today. They parked the car outside of the Penitencia Creek Entrance and walked into the park from the Creek Trail all the way to the Horse Bridge.
On their way back, they hiked up North Rim trail near the Mineral Springs but took a different trail, parallel to the road back to the park entrance. the total mileage was 8.4 miles. What a beautiful sunny and cool day to hike with 4 of my hiking friends!!!

Bear Creek Redwoods Hike

Mary Stradner led a long hike at Bear Creek Redwoods.  The full hike length was about 8 miles with a vertical climb of about 1400 ft.  The hike followed the Redwood Springs Trail and the Madrone Knoll Trail to the peak of Madrone Knoll.  They returned on the Alma Trail where there are some very large old growth redwoods.

Hill Hike

 

Our weekly hill hike always occurs on Wednesday mornings starting at 8:45AM. Here is an example of the activity that happened this morning. If you can participate, the reward is a phenomenal view of our valley.

Mt. Diablo Hike

Dan Kato led a long hike of about 8 miles with a vertical climb of about 1800 feet at Mt Diablo State Park on Saturday, November 13th.  They parked at Diablo Valley Overlook and started hiking on the Deer Flat Road.  Hiking clockwise around the mountain, they turned right on the Bald Ridge Trail.  On that trail they had lunch where the views were spectacular. They returned via the North Peak and Juniper trails.

Evergreen Hike (Rambler)

Gary Lohr led a hike to Evergreen College and then up Yerba Buena to Falls Creek Drive and back to the north side of the college campus. They stopped for coffee at the shopping center located at Yerba Buena and San Felipe.

Long Ridge Open Space Preserve

 

Wate and Johanna Bakker led a hike in the Long Ridge open space preserve along skyline boulevard. They started at the Grizzly flat parking lot on Skyline Boulevard. The main hike was about 5 miles along the Long ridge and Peter creek trails. The trail was quite shady but also had beautiful views all the way to the Ocean. The long hikers extend their hike by continuing along Long ridge trail south to a scenic hilltop for another 2-3 miles.

Harvey Bear Hike

 

On Saturday, October 16th, Gesela Pierson led a long hike of about 8 miles at Harvey Bear Park starting at the Mendoza Ranch entrance. They went up to Mummy Mountain over looking Coyote Lake where they observed fall colors on the trees.
