On 15-Nov-2023 despite predicted afternoon rain, Jim Koski led 9 hikers around the 3.5 mile Stanford Dish Trail. The government-owned 150′ diameter radio telescope was made in the early 1960s and was initially used to provide information on Soviet radar installations by detecting radio signals bounced off the moon! It’s still used today for research and spacecraft calibration and is operated by SRI International. Afterwards we had lunch at the historic Rossotti’s Alpine Inn beer garden, in Portola Valley.
