Gisela Pearson lead a hike in Sunol Regional Park in a 6-7 mile loop from headquarters to the back area and back on Saturday, February 29th. The elevation gain was approximately 1100 feet. There were beautiful views and sunny skies.

Wendy Ledamun and Rich Bainbridge led a hike along the Coyote Creek Trail. The hike started from the parking lot of Basking Ridge Park on Basking Ridge Road (a continuation ofHellyer Avenue). Hikers then followed the Basking Ridge route to Metcalf Bridge,crossed over Coyote Creek, and followed the Coyote Creek Trail back to the parking area. The flat loop hike was about 4-5 miles.

Dan Kato led a long hike at Mount Diablo state park. They started at the Diablo Valley Overlook near the Juniper Campground. Then they took the “Grand Loop” for a total distance of about 6.8 miles and a vertical climb of 1820 ft. The loop consisted of the Deer Flat Trail, the Bald Ridge Trail on the North Peak and Juniper trails.  This was a challenging hike, not so much from distance but by the vertical climb.Â
