Amy Meier led a hike with a 7-8 mile loop with 1550 ft elevation gain on the Mayfair Ranch, Longwall Canyon, Bald Peaks and Catamount Trails on varied terrain both wooded and with expansive views of Calero Reservoir and surrounding valleys.

Dan Kato led a long hike at Henry Cowell Redwoods state park.  They took the Eagle Creek and the Pine trails to the observation deck where they had lunch and enjoyed the scenic views. The group then took the pipeline road. The vertical climb was about 1000 feet and the total hiking distance 9 to 10 miles.Â

The hiking club celebrated the New Year on top of our tallest hill at 2,300 ft. Â The main group started from Foothill Center, leaving at 9:30 AM. It took about 1 1/2 hours to make it to the top, and the celebration started at about 11:30 AM. Approximately 25 people attended including some non hiking club members.

Amy Meier led a hike in Bear Creek Redwoods Open Space. The Preserve is accessible from Bear Creek Road off Hwy 17. They hiked up Alma and Redwood Springs Trails to Madrone Knoll, an elevation of 2400 ft. for an elevation gain of 1400 ft. and returned to their starting point for a distance of approximately 7.5 miles. The trail passed through 2nd growth and old growth redwoods, Douglas fir and oak.

On Sat, December 21, 2019, Kimberly Sandstrom led a hike in Rancho Cañada del Oro Open Space Preserve. They did a 9 to 10 mile hike with 1000 to 1500 ft elevation gain on the Mayfair Ranch, Longwall Canyon, Bald Peaks and Catamount Trails to complete a loop. It was breezy and chilly along the Bald Peaks Trail and warmer along the more sheltered trails. They saw several deer and lovely fall and winter colors on their winter solstice hike.Â
