Lower Hills Hike

Johanna Bakker led a hike in the lower hills. They hiked up Sky to Cougar, to Richter, to Oak, up Oak to Buffalo, then Buffalo to Thistle, Meadow to Farm and then Richter and Cougar back to the parking lot. Hiking distance was about three miles.

Pacifica Trail Hike

Johanna and Wate Bakker led 3-4 and 6-7 mile hikes respectively along the beautiful shoreline of Pacifica from Linda Mar beach to Mori Point and Sharp Park beach respectively, with beautiful ocean views from Mori point and the beaches on Saturday, September 14th. Some of the trails on Mori point were rather rugged to provide a challenge for the long hikers.Parts of the trail were paved.

BBQ Social Event

 

The Hiking Club Social committee served up a “real smoked bbq” from Aptos Street BBQ. Members and guests feasted on shredded smoked chicken in bbq sauce and pulled pork with “hogwash sauce” sliders on Thursday, September 12th. An array of side dishes including baked beans and slaw accompanied the meal. There was an appetizer and dessert, too!

Los Alamitos Creek Hike

Sy Gelman led a rambler hike along Los Alamitos Creek Trail. Starting from Almaden Lake the trail follows Los Alamitos Creek on mostly level ground. Hike mileage is 3-4 miles.

Anderson Reservoir Hike

Brad Hinckley led a hike to the Anderson Reservoir and on to the Model Airplane airport along Coyote Creek on Wednesday, September 4th. It was a moderate hike on level ground of about 5 miles.

Mt Madonna Park Hike

Nancy Rumple led a group to Mount Madonna County Park. They did a 7 mile out and back hike on the moderately hilly Redwood and Bayview Trails under the trees.

Alviso Salt Marsh Safari

Al Girolami coordinated an Alviso Salt Marsh Safari on Thursday,
August 29, 2019.  This boat ride where Santa Clara County Park staff will take
us through Alviso Slough to learn how the San Francisco Bay shoreline has changed over

Bridge Creek Trail Hike, Forest of Nisene Marks

Ramon and Marianna Reza led a hike in The Forest of Nisene Marks in Aptos. This “out and back” hike had them follow the Split Stuff Trail to the Mary Easton Picnic Area where they stopped for snacks. Round trip distance for the hike was about 5 miles, with moderate elevation in spots.
