Hill Hike February 7, 2026

On Saturday, February 7th, a group of 31 people showed up for our Hill Hike. This was one of our largest groups. Also, 10 hikers made it to the top. Along the way we saw a bobcat and a batch of dark red Trillium flowers, both of which got the attention of photographers.

Hill Hike February 2, 2026

Monday morning, February 2, 2026, five hikers met to climb to the top of our hill.  Along the way the plan changed, and it was decided to hike to the top of the seldom-used Hawk Trail. While approaching the start of Hawk at Tower, it was noticed the cows did a great job trimming the grasses, but the trail and its switchbacks could use some improvement. In any event, the view was spectacular from the top of Hawk, which might also be a good spot for a picnic table, bench or Adirondack chairs. On the way down, we saw a few deer and a horse with rider.

Hill Hike January 10, 2026

Twenty-five people joined the Hill Hike today on a cold morning. Later, some of us caught a glimpse of a bobcat on Upper Meadow near the top of Bay. After that, a group of us went a short distance further down Meadow to look for the missing bench.

Seven resourceful hikers diverted from the normal hill hike to look for a missing bench on Meadow trail just below the top of Bay trail. Upon reaching the empty site, the bench was quickly visually located in the bushes far down the steep north slope. Several hikers carefully went down the slope and pulled the bench out of the bushes, and then carried it up to the Meadow trail. It will be re-installed when proper ground anchoring can be arranged. The criminal who displaced the bench was likely Mother Nature during the high winds from the storms over the last few weeks. In the 6-person group picture, the 7 hikers are (L-R) Julian, Jim, Steve, Bob and Gordon, with Gigi sitting on the bench and Joel behind the camera.
