We met at Foothill Center at 8:30 to divide into teams, pickup tools and started departing via mules by 8:45 – 9:00. The main focus today was the upper part of the Rawhide Trail switch backs, that have also been the main focus of the wild pigs in our hill lands! Other areas that crews worked on included the steps on the Meadow Trail going up to the mail box and the Step Trail between Rawhide and the upper garden.  We had 30 people show up to make today a great success.Â

Susan Brown led a 6 mile hike to the South Rim Trail in Alum Rock Park Saturday 3/9. The weather was cloudy with some sun and it didn’t rain till after we got back. Other than a very few muddy spots, there were no problems on the trail. The park was very green with the creek full of running water–. The rushing water was so loud that we heard it way up on top of the hill.  Â

Due to rain, hike leader Nancy Rumple led an urban hike instead of the scheduled trail hike. The hikers walked through the Evergreen College campus and Fowler Creek Park to Evergreen Square, noticing new growth, flowering trees and birds. See if you can identify the large bird in the photo. Nancy’s rainy day hike turned out to be a beautiful & interesting day and nearby surroundings can be beautiful.
