On 17-July-2024 Rich Banbridge led a hike to Alum Rock along the valley trail which was about five miles round trip. There was an elevation gain of 300 feet. It was almost all in shade which was good thing for July. They stopped for an  optional lunch at Lee’s Sandwich shop on Berryessa.

Evergreen rambler hike 7-10-2024
Sandy & John Petrin led a Rambler hike beginning near Evergreen Square with 10 Villagers. The group proceeded up Michelangelo Drive, toward the Gurdwara Temple and back around Murillo Lake to Evergreen Square. It was just over 3 miles and all were able to stay mostly on the shaded side of the street. We passed Carolyn Clark Elementary School and Evergreen Valley High School along the way. The highlight of the hike was feeding the turtles at Lake Murillo. Mary Robinson brought along some actual “turtle” food and all watched as about 40 turtles lined up for a treat while ducks dropped in to grab any leftovers. They all seemed very “practiced” at this kind of treatment (the turtles, not the Villagers)! From there we headed back toward the Farmers Market at Evergreen Square.

Shoreline park 6-12-24
On 12-June-29 John Petrin led twenty Ramblers out at 9:15 am and headed to Shoreline Lake in Mountain View. It was great to see so many out there on a perfect morning for hiking. There was a gentle breeze from the bay by the time we began the hike at 10:15, continuing through our finish about 11:45. All dined at the American Bistro, adjacent to where we parked. Despite the excellent weather conditions we did not see the usual array of water fowl. This hiking shortcoming was blamed on the organizer, John Petrin, for not anticipating the LOW tide conditions at that time on that day! He promised to check the tidal charts before scheduling future hikes to the Shoreline Lake area. All in all, there was just enough wildlife to pique the interest of many of the hikers who vowed to return when the tide was IN!
