David Shilton led a hike along Penitencia Creek in Alum Rock Park. Highlights included meeting a great horned owl at the Wildlife Center and spotting a screech owl in a sycamore tree.

Wendy and Rich let a hike from Basking Ridge Park to Metcalf Bridge, across Coyote Creek and then back to the parking lot. It was a flat loop hike of about 6 miles.

First September hike “Around the Golf Course”, summer 2025.

The walk today was around the golf course since a tournament was scheduled on the golf course! Cheryl was sweep and photographer.

The Tuesday hike to Bear Creek Redwoods Preserve was very enjoyable. Within the first mile we were greeted by dozens of naked ladies (the flower that is, aka surprise lilies, probably a remnant of the homestead in this vicinity). We were then treated to a close-up view of two huge old growth redwoods. The 5.2-mile loop trail was mostly shaded and made for a great morning of hiking. David Shilton was the hike leader.
